My own realization of this was on a backpacking trip to Steens Mountain in Eastern Oregon. I’d never done this hike before and didn’t know what to expect.

After six miles through the Big Indian Gorge, I walked into something extraordinary: a golden canopy of Aspens, their fallen leaves carpeting the trail ahead. The golden light filtered through the trees, soft and warm, and a faint breeze stirred the branches above. Golden leaves danced in the air. The forest was alive, almost speaking in its own language.

That moment felt eternal—something ancient yet present. It was humbling to stand there, surrounded by such beauty, knowing the seasons would change but the essence of this place would remain. I felt humbled by the realization: no matter how fast the world spins, the earth endures. Its beauty changes with the seasons, yet its essence remains timeless.
